Love the XRs, but....
….we need them to be in stock to buy them. I need some 26 x 2.0” folding XRs and I’ve been checking for a loooooooong time without ever seeing them in stock.
Any idea when they’ll be available again?

folding bead vs wire bead
What criteria should be used in choosing between these two types if portablity and weight are not issues? Are they equal in all other respects (ie durability)?
folding bead vs wire bead
From Schwalbe Tech Info
The bead core of the tire determines its diameter and ensures a secure fit on the rim. Generally the bead core of a tire is made of steel wire.
In folding tires, the steel wire is replaced with a hoop of Kevlar fiber. The advantage is that the tire can be folded and that, depending on the size, its weight can be reduced by 50 to 90 g.
folding bead vs. wire bead
My own experience touring off road with a BOB trailer is that sidewalls don’t seem to hold up as well with a folding bead. Perhaps the sidewalls are made thinner on the folding bead tires? Please note that I have not yet tried the Schwalbes (which is why I am looking at the site).
Tire sidewall
Folding bead tires are generally associated with racing tires. Racers need their tires to be as light as possible – hence the folding bead, made from light weight Kevlar fibers, and a light sidewall construction.
With touring tires, the main objective behind the Kevlar bead is to make the tire foldable so it can be easily packed in panniers. The sidewall construction of a Schwalbe Marathon XR with wire bead or Kevlar bead is identical, as is the rest of the tire.
