UNBOUND GRAVEL:

SCHWALBE SENDS G-ONE R INTO THE RACE

A premiere at the world's biggest gravel event: Schwalbe will be taking its new G-One R to the starting line at Unbound Gravel (USA) in June. The strengths of the gravel tire for performance-oriented riders: best rolling characteristics, high damping, outstanding puncture protection - and souplesse.

OUTSTANDING PUNCTURE PROTECTION AND SOUPLESSE

200 and 350 miles long are the main races at the legendary Unbound Gravel Festival in the US state of Kansas.

At such distances, the tires play an outstanding role: They must roll lightly and smoothly and provide extremely high damping so that the riders can conserve their strength during the races over gravel and stones, which often last more than ten hours. At the same time, they should be extremely robust and puncture-proof. "The new G-One R combines all of this, combining limitless gravel fun with the souplesse of a road bike tire," says Schwalbe Product Manager Jakob Maßen.

The key to these properties is the finely balanced carcass construction, which Schwalbe transferred from the Pro One road bike tire to the G-One R. Two carcass plies under the tread allow the tire to roll smoothly and comfortably, while three carcass plies on the side protect against cuts. "The tire rolls silky smooth due to the carcass construction and conveys enormous confidence in every driving situation," Jakob Maßen explains. Furthermore, a V-Guard puncture protection - made of a material also used for bulletproof vests - reinforces cut and puncture resistance while being extremely lightweight.

The "Boomerang" tread pattern characterizes the off-road properties of the G-One R. In the middle, the almost closed structure ensures easy rolling and smooth running, while at the same time its lugs provide sufficient surface of attack when driving uphill and braking. Its outer lugs are designed slightly higher to allow safe cornering grip even at an angle. The Addix Race compound is also responsible for the good grip - it has solid grip and smooth running with low wear. "60 percent gravel and 40 road," is how Product Manager Jakob Maßen characterizes the tire's area of use. Like all gravel models from Schwalbe, the G-One R - fifth scion of the Gravel family - is equipped with the latest Tubeless Easy technology.

Unbound Gravel, the cradle of gravel racing

Four days of racing, around 4,000 participants from all over the world and competitions over six distances from 25 to 350 miles: Unbound Gravel (formerly Dirty Kanza) is the largest gravel event in the world. Two years ago, Schwalbe athlete Amity Rockwell (USA) won the main race over the 200 miles - on her G-One Allround tires, in just under twelve hours. Now she's attacking again on Schwalbe G-One R. Tiffany Cromwell, Australian pro rider from Team Canyon/SRAM, and Paul Voß, former road bike pro, host of the popular racing podcast "Besenwagen" and current gravel pro, will also start on Schwalbe's new gravel specialist.

Schwalbe will introduce its G-One R to the public at Unbound Gravel on June 5. From the end of June, the tire will be available in bike shops.
